Mac OS X on HP Mini 210 (with Dual-boot Windows 7)

Filed in News 18 comments

Forum member chrismx98 has successfully installed Mac OS X onto his HP Mini 210 and kindly provided us with a guide.

Chris says:

The following work: Ethernet, USB, I still need to try Video out and Card reader so I will keep you posted. Wireless, Sleep and the clickpad buttons don’t work. The finger gestures all work but you have to tap to click.

(Update: Webcam via PhotoBooth, Card Reader work. Video-out does not.)

He has included a guide in the MyHPMini Forums, as well as a Word document to download with all the instructions. The guide also allows for dual-booting with Windows 7, no guarantee XP or Vista will work. If you plan on making your HP Mini into “MacBook Mini” it will be at your own risk.

Don’t forget to thank him for providing the guide!

How about speed wise when installing mac osx in this machine? I'm thinking of other alternative besides Win 7.

Right now the only I could think of is Ubuntu netbook remix

I would love to get os x running on this but wifi is pretty much the necessary feature, I might give it a whirl just to see what's up…

Ubuntu netbook remix does seem to run well but I can't stand the interface so I put Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop edition on a 4GB SD card (c.4) and it performs very nicely. I see no reason to use the netbook remix… it seems more like a slate remix to me.

in the end… anything other than 'Windows 7 Starter' would be great, 7 starter is a joke, a very bad joke.

Netbook Edition still has a full gnome desktop included… You just changed the option in the Login screen, but it sorta defeats the purpose.

Does this netbook install support qe/ci?

if youre smart, dont download ubuntu, but if you really like it, when you get a windows [any king] you can download a program called wubi that is free and it automatickly gets you any linux and dooalboots it with windows.
