Ok…this is getting bad for me because I finally switched from a 1030 to a 110 and landed on the 210 model I wanted. However, when I discover that when I want to switch out the ram I see that its ddr3. Fine…so I go and get a 2gb stick of ddr3 ram and slap it on and it won’t boot up! So I thought it might have been a bad stick and got another stick and still wont boot up…WTF!? Any suggestions or is there any “correct” type of ddr3 that it needs or it won’t do 2gb?

You have to match several things in the RAM.

Also, make SURE that it is indeed DDR3. After that, makre sure you match the PC speed, some BIOS revisions don’t support an upgrade on the RAM speed.

Next, check the timings on your RAM. After the PC3 number, should be a series of other numbers.

Something like 666-12, or 666-13. Which stands for the timing speed of the RAM, make sure you match those numbers. So 666-12 would be a timing of 6-6-6-12. You can find out the timing from most RAM specs before you order.

After that, make sure your BIOS is updated, to the newest possible version.

One other thing, I’ve heard of a lot of issues with RAM in these Netbooks, try http://www.crucial.com. They are unofficially supported by HP for upgrading, they will do everything possible to make you buy their RAM, at 3-4 times the cost, but Crucial is golden and should work every time for something around $40 US.

HP mini 210 won’t complete boot up. It gets as far as a blue screen with sunlight emanating from the top with the mouse pointer on the screen and no further. The hard drive light blinks intermittently.  Last night, I took the back cover off and inspected to see the difficulty of replacing RAM, but I did not take the RAM out at that time.  What could be wrong? Help appreciated.
