Did a little more digging, it seems that Mi refuses to enable the Broadcom STA wireless driver. When I check Hardware Drivers, the STA driver is the only proprietary driver, and it's disabled. I click "Enable", confirm, and lo and behold, my wireless light turns from orange to blue. But still no joy. Options still grayed out in Network Manager (even after restarting networking and nm-applet), Broadcom driver still reporting as not in use, and no way to connect to wireless networks. Other than that, everything else seems to indicate the card is working, everything's there in iwconfig, and wlan1 is no longer "ignored" for being "unknown" when I do a /etc/init.d/networking restart, although eth1 is (which is really odd, the wired ethernet connection is working just fine). Mi tells me to restart with its prosaic little blue restart icon, so I do. Wireless light stays on all the way through login, switches to orange about 5 seconds after home screen appears. I'm so frustrated by this, my netbook ("net" is right in the name for cryin' out loud!) is useless without wireless. Please, can anyone help?!
