Who can install Mac OS on 2140
Just got my HP 2140. Installed windosx86. Had to use externally USB keyboard and mouse initially. Downloaded latest IO80211Family.kext to get wireless networking. Used VoodooPS2Controller.kext to get keyboard and trackpad working. Sound and camera working. Graphics running at 1366x768 and looks absolutely gorgeous. Not too thrilled about the glossy display, but the spacious keyboard more than makes up for it. This is a well built system and my first HP system.
Remaining things:
Gigabit Ethernet
Power management (sleep appears to works), but doesn't wake up
Audio jack
which distro/version of osx86 did you install?
thanks.
I will be installing it on mine as soon as it gets here next week. I will be using the Boot123 and retail disc method as I have never liked the iDeneb version and such. I come form a Mini9 background, so have a good clue as to what I'm gonna need to mod. I'll let you all know how it goes.
Just a quick me-too post. Though I haven't done it on a mini 9. I saw you post about replacing the Wi-Fi with Atheros, is there a reason for that? I was under the impression that the Broadcom card should be good-to-go for MacOS?Originally Posted by kancept
It is supported, just not native to the Mac OS. It's one of the hacks that is now included in the Dell Mini hack install, I just use the default Atheros from a MacBook. Also, the Dell Mini9s had the G cards, my Apple ones are N. :-) I ran an extra antenna on my mini9 around the screen. Amazing difference. Got a little hotter, but worth it.
As for what is in the 2140, mine will have N, but I don't know if the kext will work for it. The apple card I have I just know works. And since I'll be in there anyway swapping RAM and the HD (my nice 320GB 7200RPM one) I'll do the wireless card in the same go.
