Wall wart power adapter for 2140

So, has anyone found a decent Wall Wart adapter for their 2140? The laptop power brick does not appeal to me at all. I find them to be very impractical in terms of portability.

I found some old posts where someone adapter a Dell Mini 9 adapter to a HP 1000, is that going to work for a 2140? I also found an adapter on eBay, but the source seems a little sketchy to me. Anyway, if you've found one that works, please reply!

The alternative seems to be a really short 110-> powerbrick adapter, but I find this to be a sub-optimal solution.

not sure what a wall wart is but i would like to find a better portable power solution for my 2140 as well. I would keep the power brick at home and the other alternative as my power supply when i am out and about.

A Wall Wart style adapter is one where the AC/DC converter is located in the plug itself. Only a thinner DC cable would run from the adapter to the laptop. It would look like a larger cell phone charger.

I've found one possibility, but if you look at the pictures, they look TOTALLY wrong for an HP:

I contacted the seller, the picture wasn't of the correct adapter but they will have a 2140 adapter. Apparently though, it isn't ready yet...

Hi, the picture is just an example picture by eee pc . Please wait some days, our hp 2140 adapter have some technical issue now.
    We are resolving it now.
I'll let ya'll know how this works when this becomes available.

given these are clearly coming out of HK (china)... are these power supplies at least UL listed (or something equivalent) so you have some reasonable peace of mind you won't burn down your house using it?

I have no idea, but that is a good point. I wouldn't plug it in if it wasn't. Heck, I don't even have my 2140 yet, hopefully tomorrow.

Well, I've found the correct cord for the Mini 2140. Now I just need to figure out which adapter to use with it. I'm still thinking Dell Mini, the amps are low but voltages are right. I've got to read up on the smart power pin first though.

This is the cord I'm planning on using, 7.4mm\5.0mm with smart power pin. It runs 12.99 in small lots:

Jawbox, I was wondering if you've had success creating your own wall wart or if you found a suitable one. I'm interested in leaving my power brick at home and using a wall wart while out. I still can't figure out what HP was thinking when they shipped a netbook out with a power brick...it sort of defeats the purpose of being small and easily portable.

    Thanks!

I have not gotten to this yet. Its been a busy summer so far, I'm hoping to place the orders for parts in the next two weeks. I'll definitely update when I get it going (or post about the hilariously bad results).

Any update on this. I too would really rather have a portable power source for my "Mini". The power brick that came with the 2140 actually takes up more room (bulkiness) in my computer bag than the laptop itself.

It looks like something is available in the UK:

Not sure about in the states.
