powermizer in win xp 32 doesnt work

    hi there,
i have downloaded drivers 195.62 full version...NOT LE for my windows xp pro...and when i check gpu speed by gpu-z software..it is still the same - 450, by powermizer on..actually it doesnt matter whether it is on or off..gpu speed remains the same...any ideas why? thanks in advance

    hi,
sorry, no help but same here.

Although windows screensaver activates the lower GPU clock speed on my 311... (sometimes only on the second time the screensaver gets activated...)

Do you use desktop or notebook drivers? As far as I remember when I had xp the notebook drivers worked fine.

Re: powermizer in win xp 32 doesnt work

I can confirm that even with the notebook_winxp_195.81_beta driver, PowerMizer do nothing.

Nvidia has so many problem with it that maybe they disabled it?
    see http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?s=23 ... pic=157614

I tried a "PowerMizer Switch" application but it crashed, I tried to set the registry values by hand but it does nothing, GPU-z still report full speed and 58°C on battery at idle.

EDIT: forget about all the PowerLevelSrc or others registry you will see online, when you toggle powermizer in the control panel, it switches only one entry from 0 to 1 or 1 to 0 (0=powermizer on, 1=powermizer off) which is

    \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contr ol\Video\{ALotOfHexNumbers}\0000\DisableDynamicPst ate

for me it seems to work.

i check the GPU clock ratings with cpu-z, there is a register Graphics and there select "current" ... when idle it stays at Core: 200mhz, Shaders 400Mhz and Memory 1063Mhz.

When i start a HD youtube Movie for example (flash HD acc.) the core clock goes to 450Mhz ... have the "bios hack full ION" and the latest Desktop Driver from nVidia.

Re: powermizer in win xp 32 doesnt work

Are you using cpu-z or gpu-z ? gpu-z always gives me 450, strangely enough it seems Everest does not show the same number...
I have a *ION* with latest desktop driver too. XP BTW.

EDIT: ok, I tried CPU-z... and stupid GPU-z... has soon as I start GPU-z, it goes on 450/1100 and never move from here even after 10 minutes idle. As soon as I close GPU-z, I can see that CPU-z throttle to 350 then 300 then 200 in a few minutes, so it works!

didnt tried everest, but GPU-z shows , as you decribe, always 450mhz. i can only check the variable GPU clock rating with CPU-z Oo ...
