Patriot Mini II USB flash drive

This new product was announced in mid-July. It is available in 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB (woohoo!!!) versions, and retracts into its case to protect the contact surfaces I wonder if it will fit in the Mini Mobile Drive slot (for us SSD types)???

The 2GB and 4GB versions are on sale at Fry's Electronics stores until Tuesday 8/4, for $5.99 and $8.99 respectively.

Picked one up this evening. It looks like the core matches the core of the Transcend T3 (Mini Mobile Drive). To fit it into the Mini's slot, you have to remove it from the cover into which it retracts , which leaves it too short with nothing to grab onto.

CrystalDiskMark tests show it to be slightly slower for read operations than the T3 2GB, and nearly half the speeds for writes.

When the 16 GB version is actually available, I might try removing the guts and converting my 2GB Mini Mobile into a 16GB version. I would like 16 GB for storing three ripped DVD movies (4.7 GB each) to take along when traveling.
