Talking New Windows XP IDT driver improves audioquality!

There is a newer Windows XP version of the IDT High Definition Audio Driver (v.5.10.6246.0) for the HP Mini 210-1000 series which works also for the HP Mini 1000 series since both models use the same sound processor. It is astonishing how this new driver - compared to the very old one i used before - improves the quality of the audio output! With the old driver in my case the sound was really creepy! Now it's OK.

Where did you get the new driver from? There are so many models of “210-1000” listed on the HP site that I don’t really fancy going through them all to find something for my Compaq Mini 700!!

Yes, you are right... You can take the driver e.g. from the driver page of the HP Mini 210-1001TU PC. Maybe I should mention too, that the improvement I noticed concerns the XP driver version. I'm not sure about Vista or Windows 7 because i didn't tried it.

Cheers. Appears to have been a minor upgrade for me (using Windows 7), but an upgrade nonetheless. The one thing that’s always bugged me about the previous driver was that I couldn’t get the noise cancellation to work with the microphone, so using Skype without a headset was pretty much impossible without getting so much feedback that my ears (and those of the other caller) would likely explode! This seems to have fixed that as I now seem to be able to turn on the noise cancellation, which I couldn’t even do before.

I probably spoke too soon. The feedback is still bloody awful.
