Im sure this ones been covered a few times to date but I wasnt able to find anything on this forum..So I thought I'd as the question.
Looking to upgrade from my 1000 that was recently run over by a bike *sigh....
Anyway, was introduced to the 5101 (and was immediately glad as I thought this would be the perfect excuse) and made my mind up almost immediately...
Question is, SSD or HDD?
Firstly, what make SSD does HP equip this model with? And how does it fair against the Runcore IV SATA 2.5? Does anyone have any views here??
I've read several articles on the SSD/ Atom combination and I have to say that the general consensus is that the N2XX represents a bottleneck and hence its not worth forking out the extra bucks for an SSD model. However, if you read SSD specific reviews, they imply otherwise....So, bottom line is, Im all confused..!!!
I have have had previous negative experiences with SSD's in Asus units, particularly with its performance using Outlook, and lost confidence to some extent. Apparently SSD's dont cope well when managing outlook with OST/PST larger than 2GB, and idles for a significantly long period when syncing email.
Anyway, fast forwarding matters a bit, I hear "things" have improved since and would like to know if anyone has had any experiences with the 80GB SSD model thats available and how it performs in comparison.
Much appreciated.
