    Install Log -> iDeneb 1.3

    I'm reinstalling iDeneb 1.3, to make a detail log of what i'm doing... I will come back and maybe write a HOWTO if this works out good.. Please note that this guide is based on the guide made by "bobbypotluck".

    1. Using a external DVD.

    2. I've let iDeneb 1.3 boot up, without any CPUS=1 command.

    3. No Loop fix required

    4. Since the screen is smaller, i don't get to create a user profile. This log's me into Administrator right away without any password.

    5. UInstaller

    6. DST Patcher

    7. OSX86Tools -> Install kexts right away. Select All except AppleGMA950 & AppleIntegratedFramebuffer. Reboot!
    ** repair permissions not required.

    8. The screen is now too small to do the Update to 10.5.7, so activate VoiceOver/Universal Access in System Preferences.
    ** wireless should work, but you might not see it, go to Network in System Preferences to set you wifi password.

    9. Software Update of "Max OSX Update" only! With VoiceOver, you will be able to select the "Agree" buttons. Auto-Reboot!

    10. Install VooDooPS2 Controller package, and select "trackpad".

    11. Re - OSX86Tools -> Install kexts right away. Select All except AppleGMA950 only this time. Reboot!

    12. Enable Quartz. Reboot!

    13. Fix CPU by going to the /Library/Preferences folder and adding "Read/Write" to admin permissions to the "SystemConfiguration" folder. Now add "Read/Write" to the "com.apple.Boot.plist" file to the admin, and open it with TextEdit. Simply remove the <key>Kernel Flags</key> and the <string>cpus=1 -f</string> lines. Save, and change back the permissions to "Read only" to the file AND the folder. Reboot!

    14. Enable Quartz Extreme (which THEN fixes the screen resolution). Reboot!
    14. Reboot!

    ----------

    Please note that theses steps are what i did last time, and worked... i'm going to format, and try it a second time.. same procedure.. brb

    Re: [110-1030] Install Log -> iDeneb 1.3

    Same procedure, worked almost as well.

    As I wrote elsewhere:

    I used the video drivers from the iATKOS thread, and video out works.

    Sleep still isn't working; choose sleep or shut lid and in sleeps then wakes right up. Did the sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0 but that didn't seemed to help. Also deleted the sleepimage in /private/var/vm. sudo nvram "use-nvramrc?"=false didn't work, nvram is not supported on this system.

    By the way, I solved the update licence acceptance (hidden button, screen too small) for 10.5.6 by using command prompt and softwareupdate:
    softwareupdate --list
    softwareupdate -i MacOSX...
    Takes a while but works with no problems.

    One other problem I'm having is with the trackpad click, especially in Firefox using the scroll bar - it seems to interpret a single click as click-hold or double-click sometimes. Tried all the setting, same problem.

    I hate the track pad.. for the life of me, i find it unconviniant.

    I bouthgt myself a mini usb bluetooth dongle, and a BT mouse from Logitech.. Now i can share my 3G internet from my iPhone with my PC without cables, and use a wireless mouse without a big dongle..

    PS: i didn't have any video issues doing it the way i mentionned it.. didn't even need the iAtkos drivers..

    Re: [110-1030] Install Log -> iDeneb 1.3

    I followed this procedure and i am unable to get it working. It keeps hanging at the grey apple screen after the 10.5.7 update (Wait circle moves, but does not do anything).

    Here are the differences in my config.

    1. CTO mini 110 directly from hp
    2. HD Screen - SO i do need to perform the loop fix.

    Bios version F.07

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Happy it worked out good for you.. I must admit, i get the occasional freeze at boot as well, and even the no/wireless at times as well.. but hey.. it wasn't built to run this, and i can't seem to "duplicate" the booting issues.. it seems random..

    Re: [110-1030] Install Log -> iDeneb 1.3

    Just an update; mine has been working well since I posted.

    -Mail set to use daily. I use IMAP on my email accounts. Wish there were a better way to sync prefs (signatures and rules), I know .mac does it but I'm way too cheap for that.

    -Firefox running like a champ. I use xmarks to sync my firefox bookmarks.

    -iTunes library installed and working. Wish I could turn the master volume up a little, but at least it works. Wish metadata (song ratings, especially) and podcasts sync'd, but that's a standard itunes problem. Internet radio stations work fine. I'm still using my Macbook for sync'ing and charging my iPhone, mainly because it only wants to mate with a single computer.

    -Haven't moved iPhoto library, again because there's not a great way to sync. I've put my (hundreds of) desktop pictures up and they look great on both screens.

    -Trying to think of other apps I use daily. Had a problem installing Office, and I sort of despise it anyway, so I've been trying to use BBEdit or Google Docs instead.

    -I've got Windows 7 RC installed on a 20gb partition, so I can even dual-boot if I have no choice but to run Windows apps. I've got parallels on the Macbook but I rarely use it. Need to get my work peeps to set up our VPN.

    -Still don't like the trackpad much for clicking, it seems to register double-clicks. I may end up getting a keyboard and mouse for work, I use one at home when I'm docked.

    -6 Cell battery - It's nice to have a battery that lasts so long, but it's still annoyingly bulky in my bag. Still need a second network adapter so I don't have to carry it home<->work with me.

    -No problems with the Wifi. Usually (now) it's blue, sometimes it's pink, can't tell the difference.

    -Sometimes hangs when I try to sleep. BTW, I don't like HP's power button. So instead I usually sleep, unless I'm switching to W7.

    -Fan never comes on. Hope that isn't a problem. Not sure if there's any software that will read the temperature. Feels cool enough, a little warm just to the left of the trackpad.

    -Still thinking of ordering an HD N280. The current screen is too small when I try to use it on its own, and it'd be nice to have a bigger one when it's my second monitor, too. N280 just because it's cheap. And eventually a bigger HD, good to know I can do that if I need to.

    -Might need a dashboard mount, GPS receiver, GPS software, and car power. Wish my car had an easy way to add an MP3 port, but it doesn't, may have to hack that too.

    -Keep thinking I'd like to set up a service on Craigslist to help people do this. I go to Fry's and see people looking longingly at the Macs and then buying a netbook because they're cheaper - want to offer them a business card to hack their netbooks. Would be nice to see how Snow Leopard runs on them, tho - I've got it (and W7) on order.

    Thanks for your post, this is showing how easy it is to install Mac OSX on a HP Mini.. I still have some wireless issues.. and i think someone with more experience should isolate a HOWTO on how to delete the currect Kext, and install the one working for the HP Mini.. Would love to get a synopsis of which Kext does what..

    Re: [110-1030] Install Log -> iDeneb 1.3

    Wonderful guide. I followed it with the 110-1025 and it worked great. There are still some hang up issues when starting up occasionally but everything else is fine.

    Today I attempted it on the 110-1030 and cannot get past the install. Once the install is complete the computer restarts, shows the apple logo and then reboots itself. I tried -s and it's still much of the same. Any advice would be appreciated as this is a much different beast than the 110-1025 install I just did (for whatever reason).
