I Really Need Some Help...
I want to first start off by apologizing for my ignorance when it comes to computers. I have a problem that no one can seem to help me with and it could possibly be due to the fact that I'm not explaining it properly.
I was given an HP Mini for Christmas and have had no problems with it. My free space is usually around 19-22%.
Two night ago I ran my anti virus. It had a few updates so I did that and I was virus free. I then went and ran Spybot. It advised me I had a few problems. It said there was porn popups. I immunized the problems and fixed it.
I then went to run a defrag and saw I was at 9% available space. I decided to perform a disk clean up. Here is where I think the problem started...
The screen came up showing that it was looking to see how much free space I could get. All the boxes were checked off so I clicked yes to perform the task. When the screen showed that it was trying to clean the Back On Track, it froze and closed. It didn't clean it.
I tried again, unsuccessfully. I deleted all my downloads, pictures etc. I was still at 9%. I ran the system Housecall and there is no virus whatsoever on my mini.
I uninstalled spybot and it did not free up anymore space for me. I asked someone what to do and they advised me to uninstall Back On Track. I did that as well and went to 12% free space. Makes sense since I uninstalled a program.
I restarted my mini and again went to perform a disk clean up. It would not perform the function. I have been through everything and there is nothing else for me to delete. I have nothing saved as in pictures, movies, music etc. Overnight the disk clean up stopped working and I went from 22% free space to 9% and now at 12% and that is with me deleting everythign I could. Two programs and all my pictures, music etc.
I went to HP chat and talked to someone. They told me to do what I already did. I told them I did all of that and they had no idea what to do next.
If someone can tell me what is wrong and how to fix it, I would be grateful. I hope I have used the proper words to explain the problem.
