One of the reasons people rule out the Dell Mini 10 right away is the inability to upgrade its RAM from 1GB to 2GB like you can with every other netbook out there.
Big difference between 10 and the 2140 is the memory and processor
2140 goes with 2gb and the n70 processor
10 goes with 1gb soldered on memory (non upgradeable) and z5-something processor which gives better battery life but is more focused on cell phones or mids
and the 2140 has an expansion slot, dont think the 10 has 1
I really don't think any of the other netbooks have an an expansion slot. But something the Dell Mini 10 has going for it, if it's your sort of thing, is the optional integrated 3G WWAN.
As much as I love my 2140, I wouldn't want an ugly ExpressCard 3G solution. Luckily, 3G isn't very important to me at the moment since I'm not a frequent traveler.
If you love the 2140 and integrated 3G is a must, then wait a couple months for the 2150. If 1GB of RAM and a lighter-duty CPU isn't that big of a deal (ie, it really is just for surfing and email), then the Mini 10 should suite anyone just fine.
For me, since I occasionally need to run a VMWare virtual machine and do some occasional software development and compiling, the extra RAM was an absolute necessity. But for the "Average Joe", 1GB might not be a deal breaker.
true and tbh the dell 10 looks a bit nicerand u can get it in sooo many diff colors xD
something very odd. be careful what you choose if you go with the mini 10. as of may 4th, i went on their site http://www.dell.com/content/products/pr ... l=en&s=dhs and you have a selection of the same model on the left or on the right. the one on the right says "best value" and starts off at $499 before configuration. the one on the left is $399 before configuration.
if you configure both to have the Z530 processor, high def screen, 6 cell battery, 802.11g/n, bluetooth 2.1, and 1.3mp webcam, the one on the left comes to $564 but the one on the right comes to $589. can someone double check me to make sure i'm not missing something here but i think i got the same exact configuration yet the one that is supposedly "best value" is $25 higher.
something unethical here with dell?
