HP Mini 1030NR - Complete Rebuild...Need Your Advice
Hi everyone,
I'll keep it simple...if I'm in the wrong forum or if someone has already created a thread on this subject, PLEASE re-direct me.
My wife was given a fully functioning HP Mini 1030NR. It was loaded with the usual bloatware and was never hit by a virus or malware of any kind. It was born with XP Home SP3. I want to wipe it (completely reformat) and install my slipstreamed XP Pro SP3 and the "necessary" drivers. I have access to an USB DVD player to boot from the install disk and drivers disk (I have both of them that came with the computer).
* What problems might I encounter with the OS install process? It has a 20GB HDD...not an SSD.
* I've read about audio issues that might follow the OS installation. I think those can be overcome but what have you heard?
* I don't need the HP-related helpers and other bloatware. Is it possible to use the drivers install disk and strategically install drivers (for those pieces of hardware I really need) or must the entire ball of wax be installed by default?
I think I'll stop with the questions for now and see if anyone cares to comment. Once again, if this query does not belong in this forum or has already been addressed, please send me to the correct place. I greatly appreciate the opportunity to use this forum to assist me in rebuilding my wife's little HP Mini.
BTW...I'm not a novice at rebuilding computers. Done it 100's of times before and am not scared to undertake this little project. I'm just trying to gather information on possible pit falls of the process.
Thank you.
Enzo
