HP 110 as a present, just ordered dell v90 vostro-which one?

    hello,

I do real estate in NYC, USA and have a need to be mobile.

so, I have ordered the vostro v90--- missed the 199 deal (boo!) but still got it for $235, 1g and 16 gb ssd....

and I got a v305 all in one printer 40 bucks off from 99, down to 59..using that for a desktop i7..xps machine

    THEN....hehehehe

my finace got me an HP 110

now, I like the HP better, because I have it now! I am using it and getting used to it as we speak.

so I am glad I got the vostro, just to be able to compare them...

    QUESTION...

kinda the same thing, these two machines? why do you folks all choose HP,, and not the DELL mini 9, 10 and v90?

and, I will post a comparison between the two when I get the v90.

    thanks

    allen

Keep the Mini 110. Bigger harddrive, and it is one of the highly compataible netbooks with OS X and also Windows 7.

I am kinda leaning that way, even before getting the vostro

    I have a 110-1022

anywhere to find out the differences in the models?

and, if I put an SD card in , can I store files to the SD card, and keep the hard drive for OS? (if I upgrade to an SSD)

how easy is the SSD upgrade?

    the 2GB upgrade?

    thanks

well I def need an ssd...

the hard drive on the 110 I have is a little too noisy for me....

so the runcore or the basic SSD, can you see the difference in speed?

I picked the HP Mini due to the fact that it looked a bit nicer, also I wanted a HDD over a SSD. It also had a 10.1" screen and not a 9" screen like on the Dell Mini. You could always add a SD card and be able to put your files on there. Some people also put the page file etc on it as well to gain up some space. I believe both would be nice for a Hackintosh if you decide to go that route. I have noticed that there really isn't much difference in the model numbers.

You're welcome. But as for me not dual booting with Win 7. Well I was having a really hard time trying to get my WWAN card to be recognized in Win7, I don't know what it is but it wasn't working out for me. Also another thing was is that Win7 is just a trial for now. When it expires I'm not sure I will have the $$ to be able to upgrade. Money is tight now a days. But dual boot. It's quite easy, before I had WinXP/OSX dual booted. I had Win7/OSX dualbooted and when I first got my Mini I had WinXP/Ubuntu dual booted. A little tip, if your going to be dual booting with WinXP and Win7. Partition and then install Win7 then you can use the Win7 bootloader to be able to go back and fourth. I know quite a bit from trial and error and there is some awesome guides here. So don't be afraid to ask if you need anything.

For dual booting check out the Mac OSX section, there is some really good information there and also there is some links to some websites that have some tutorials on how to dualboot.

Re: HP 110 as a present, just ordered dell v90 vostro-which one?

    well

I am keeping the hp 110

I do not like the 9 inch screen on the dell vostro

the vostro is very cool, and it has a better keyboard..... I actuallly just used the vostro for about 10 min, then put it away....

I didnt want to get used to it! the keys are definately definately better!

oh, and the power light on the lower left part of the dell, right on the front edge , is like having a flashlight in your face! argh!

the dell feels a little more "solid" but not by much, and that might just be me....

the writing on the keys, the letters, are easier to read on the dell, they used a brighter white color paint. so, at night, when you look at the keys,--or flip the screen to see the keys, u do that? haha--- the keys on the dell show up better....

the screen on the dell is a shiny finish, the screen on the hp is a matte finish... the screen on the dell seems to have stronger colors, but that might be just an adjustment....I have win xp sp 3 on the HP and ubunto on the dell

the touch pad on the dell is rough feeling, just barely, and the hp touchpad is totally smooth... jsut a difference...

oh, the keyboard on the dell vostro a90/mini 9 is a little cramped, but I could get used to it...

if anyone has any other questions, just let me know. I am sending the dell back, but not right away.

    hope this helps...
