HOW-TO: Install iAtkos 10.5.7 on the HP DV2z/DV2

    Intro:

This guide will help you install iAtkos 10.5.7 v7 on you HP DV2z or DV2. So far this is the only known version that supports the majority of the hardware for the dv2 series. Currently everything is working with the exception of HDMI,VGA and On board Graphics.

    Items Needed:

    1.) HP DV2z or DV2...duh
    2.) A copy of iAtkos 10.5.7 v7
    3.) External CD/DVD Combo drive

    Installation:

    1) Boot the DV2 from the iAtkon 10.5.7 v7 install DVD. F9 at startup will allow you to pick the external drive to boot from.

    2) Once the dvd boots use the disk utility to partition the entire drive or just an individual partition for os x. PM me if you have questions on dual or tripple booting your dv2.

    3) Selecting customize options. Default selected items are BLUE additional patches will be RED.

Use the Image below to select the proper install items. Remember to untick Chameleon v2 first!!!

For sound you will need two additional items. If you need help installing the kext pm me.

    Kext helper b7: http://cheetha.net/

    VoodooHDA KEXT: http://code.google.com/p/voodoohda/

So far, this is the best method i found to get OS X up and running properly on the DV2z. After the install is complete you can use the software update utility to install all updates EXCEPT 10.5.8, currently that update causes 2 kernel panics. If the guide is not working for you please post your questions and i will try to answer them as soon as possible.

This guide works specifically with the HP DV2-1110US

Re: HOW-TO: Install iAtkos 10.5.7 on the HP DV2z/DV2

    Thanks allot for the tutorial!!!!
    Just did it....mainly successful.
I had a few comments and questions.

I have a HP Dv2z, the specs are below:

    Processor: AMD Turion™ Neo X2 Dual-Core Mobile L625 Processor (1.6GHz, 1MB L2 Cache)
    Memory: 4GB DDR2 System Memory (1 Dimm) from 2GB DDR2 System Memory (1 Dimm)
Hard drive: 320GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
Graphics card: 512MB ATI Radeon™ HD Premium Graphics 3410
Display: 12.1" diagonal WXGA High-Definition HP LED BrightView Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)
    Personalization: Webcam Only
    Networking: Wireless-N Card with Bluetooth
battery: 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

My results were almost all positive.
I got iAtkos v7 to load via an external dvd.
I had to click or scroll on the touchpad during the instillation screen to see my progress...it seems to need this for some reason.
In the end, two things still need work:

    1) the touchpad is super irratic and jumpy (as if it has the wrong driver)
Unfortunately, there are no option in the preferences/mouse pane to mod or change it.

    2) The overall graphics seem rather washed out. As if the entire screen is verging on monotone.
Nothing is very crisp or bright. I definite step down from the vista palette, and looks horrible sitting next to my Mac unibody.

Anyway, thank you for your guide...I have no clue how to pm...or i would.
If anyone has found a working solution to either of these issues, please post.
    I will do the same.

    Adam.

If the voodoo patch did not work properly for you, just delete the kext from the extension folder, boot the dvd again and only install the Apple ps2 kext. No need for a reinstall just replace the kext, both work but in some cases the apple ps2 kext works better for some.

    Hope this helps

Just to update for the community.
On the HP DV2Z the Apple ps2 kext works perfectly for the touchpad.

I was unable to get the sound working with the voodoo kext, via kexthelper.
I was unable to find a video driver for this laptop. PLEASE HELP!!
The video card is a 512MB ATI Radeon™ HD Premium Graphics 3410
    Thanks everyone.
Happy to keep posting as I succeed and fail.
Big respect to Richard in Seattle for being super helpful and really making this a possiblity for me.
Not there yet but hopeful someday soon I will have a usable mac.
    Adam.

    Hello,

I just purchased the DV2-1020ca, which is a single core AMD with ATI X1200 graphics. Would this be the same guide that I should follow?

    Thank you

This is a fine tutorial, unfortunately, my wired Realtek Ethernet isn't working. not too much of a big deal, but it would be nice to have working.

Although, when i went to delete my windows partition, it wiped both partitions.. there goes 60 gigs of music, ISO's, pictures..

As it stands there isn't a working kext for the eithernet. In regard to partitioning your hard drive you should have split the partition under windows using Disk Management and the Shrink Volume Option.

For the audio, go here http://forum.voodooprojects.org/inde...pic,139.0.html

Download the newest VoodooHDA Audio kext, use the B7 Kext Helper to install the kext, restart after repairing permissions and you shoule be fine. Also Make sure you delete the previous kext before installing the new one. Hope this helps
