HELP....audio output

First I got my HP 1035nr about a month ago and love it. I then discovered this site and think it its great. Lots of good information.

Here is my question....I have ITunes on the mini and have an IPod. I can plug my IPod into my home stereo receiver and get great sound. Surround sound and sub woofer all work fine. I use a mini plug to two RCA plugs that plug into and aux. in on the receiver. Now here is what confused me. I plug the HP mini into the same plug and do not get surround sound and it will not drive the subwoofer.

I tried in audio setting changing the speakers to 5.1 surround but that did not seem to work. Then everytime I plug the mini plug into the laptop it changes it back to headphones. Hopefully someone with more knowledge than I can help. I would like to DJ from the mini.

i don't know about 5.1 but there are audio improvements in using the vista driver.

the mini has a proprietary EQ on the line outs of the machine.

There is info on this in the windows section i believe. I have the linux version, so i cant help ya. =\

Thanks for the replies. I removed the IDT audio driver. Downloaded the Vista driver and installed it. Now it works like a champ with my stereo. Thanks

Well, the vista driver does seem to work like a champ, but it has disabled the external sound jack on my 1030NR.

Does anyone know a fix that leaves the external port alive?

the headphones still work for me.
