Does the screen get scratched when closed?

I just got my Mini 1000 two days ago, and i found people complaining on HP's forum that their screens were developing scratches from poor clearance. Have any of you who have had the Mini for a while noticed this? Please let me know, it isn't too late for me to return this and go for the Mini 2140 (I am not sure i will be able to afford 2140, but as much as i love my Mini, if the screen is doomed...).

havent gotten it yet, but now that this issue is coming up i may have to get a silicone keyboard protector so i make sure it doesnt get scratched. I have the same problem with my cell phone (samsung u-740) and it annoys the hell out of me because those marks are there permanently

When it came out of the box, it had a grey 'felt-y' tye piece that was on the keyboard. We've taken to just keeping it there just in case.

Yep me too. Not a single scratch yet.

Sometimes I get marks from the touchpad on the top of the screen, but they come off easily with the cloth provided. I wouldn't really define it as a scratch, but more of a smudge, similar to if I was to rub my finger across it.

I too use the shipping felt to keep this from happening.

Shipping felt FTW, although it's more for keeping the dust out of the keyboard for me than anything else hahaha

IMPORTANT: Before you close the screen, make sure there aren't any small rocks/sand/bits of stuff on your keyboard. It turns out I closed my screen on something small and it left a small indentation and scratch on both my screen and the palm rest area. I'm planning on buying a screen protector.

I have noticed the same thing. Only shows when the computer is off.
