compaq mini 311c 1101sa bios overclock

Ive had my mini for quite a while now and have also been using asrock over clock for a while too, its getting a bit annoying with it keep popping up.
could some help me with overclocking my mini with the hacked bios.

Ive been wanting to do this for ages but everytime i get everything together i chicken out because something confuseds me

Has anyone bios oc'ed this specific mini, if so could they give me a guide on how to do it. Im computer literate so Ill understand the terms used but i just want to be sure that i do this right so i dont brick my mini

    thanks

Ok great. Since you already have OCTuner lets take advantage of it. And you have a N270 right?

So lets gonna try this way: boot with it at 512+88 FSB (CPU @1.8Ghz) and memories Linked 3:2 (RAM @900Mhz). Its kind of a "safe" boot from what I've seen in general, and allows you to change the cpu/ram ratio to a more convenient one. After that, get into Windows and start pushing it with OCTuner, until you find the limit (you can use Prime95 in the background to pick any instability). And if you manage to get the CPU over 2.2Ghz you might need to change the cpu/ram ratio again to 5:4 (if you do reach that frequency and have to change the ratio in the BIOS don't forget to increase the CPU FSB too, so it won't underclock the memories too much).

Once you find the sweet spot of your mini you can safely apply it without fearing a brick, or at least its less likely that it'll happen.

Re: compaq mini 311c 1101sa bios overclock

Thanks But i tried that and bricked it
I have 2gb 133mhz elixir ram and took it out, it booted, i changed to default, then put memory in.

what would be the best overclock for this type of memory ? Im trying to get a stable 2.0ghz but its the ram that isnt letting me do it
I can oc to 2.0ghz with the stock ram but if i put the extra 2gb in it bricks.

    I tried this
1.8ghz then 3:2 then used octuner and got to 2.0ghz then rebooted and highered the fsb in bios, then brick, got it back to defaults and put the ram back in.

Thanks again, (I REALLY WANT 2.0ghz .) I spent 55gbp on the ram so i dont not want to use it.

please help me oh guru of OC'ing

EDIT: this is my memory BUT i didnt get it from that website, :O

Alright you can boot at 512+88 fsb and the 3:2 ratio, that's a good start. Now with OCTuner, was those 2.0Ghz really its limit while using that program? Just because you might need to go a little further with it to kind of "unstuck" that memory deal to a frequency your mini likes to keep the 3:2 ratio. (just as an example, my mini won't boot at 176=704 fsb with the 3:2 ratio without taking out the extra memory, but its perfectly fine already at 177=708 fsb)

And if you didn't knew already, for example 175 FSB in OCTuner would be equal to 175 * 4 = 700 FSB in the BIOS (512+188), like I did above with those examples of my mini.

Re: compaq mini 311c 1101sa bios overclock

I see, I have been spending countless hours doing the math(s) of overclocking but whenever i think ive got it , it bricks
I did manage to get to 2.2ghz, so i went and done 2.0ghz in the bios because i thought it would be safer

can i set to unlinked instead and try. what would you recommend ?

    thanks JOn

im still having trouble getting 2.0ghz using 3:2, so i tried auto and got 1.95ghz then it didnt boot
.Im just wondering, could i use unlinked and if so what would be the reccomended setting?

    thanks

Unlinked would be the best... At least for me it works really good...

Right now I don't have my mini with me, but I can tell you what setting I'm using in some hours =)

Re: compaq mini 311c 1101sa bios overclock

Oh my... Its wise from you to not try that Auto/2:1 ratio again at 2.0Ghz. You could had bricked it. You were booting with the memories at 1336Mhz.

The unlinked option is not much reliable sometimes, but you could go for it and see if it works alright for that FSB you want.
