    Broadcom Crystal HD video accelerator

Has anyone tried the Broadcom BCM70012 video accelerator offered for the Mini 110 in a Mini 5101 ?

It is offered as an option when buying the HP Mini 110. I have been unable identify an HP part number of the the Broadcom video accelerator or a way to buy just the card online from HP.

The 5101 has two expansion slots; one used for a Wifi card and one for a WWAN Broadband card. Judging from illustration in the service manual, the Wifi card is installed in a PCIe mini interface with room for only a PCIe Half Mini form factor card (HMC) and the Broadband card is installed in a PCIe mini interface with room for a PCIe Mini full size form factor. The Broadcom video accelerator shown in the Broadcom Youtube video is a full length PCIe Mini card.

Perhaps one can choose to install the video accelerator in the slot meant for the WWAN card as long as the interface is PCIe mini and not something proprietary.

If you can't find it direct from HP, there are a bunch of them on ebay:

I also want to put a BCM70012 in my 5101 but first we have to check if the WWAN slot supports the full miniPCIe specs. In many netbooks the second miniPCIe slot (WWAN slot) ist only an USB port as specified in the miniPCIe standard. This means that only the USB wires of the miniPCIe standard are put on the connector.
Can anyone verify that the WWAN socket is a full miniPCIe socket, which is useable for the BCM70012 (or any other "real" miniPCIe device)?

I installed the Broadcom Crystal HD board into the WWAN socket of my HP 5101. It works fine.
