    BestBuy Geek Squad Tune Up?

    Folks,

I have made the decision to buy the HP 1030NR at Best Buy for $350 plus MA sales tax.

Question, is it worth the money (around $50) to have their Geek Squad turn up my Mini as in removing unneed software etc to make it run better? Or is this a money pit for consumers like the extended warrenty?

Keep in mind I will be using my Mini for basically surfing the web, email, and light spreadsheet/wordprocessing work.

    Thanks,
    David

You could do what I did (if you have a USB external DVD-ROM drive). I also bought my 1030NR at Best Buy and de-cr@pped it. It seemed like some of the stuff was impossible to get rid of so I just wiped the drive and started over. I took a couple of hours and after configuring it exactly like the first time, I had saved about 1.3GB after a clean install.

I wouldnt suggest it, There shouldnt be much preinstalled on a netbook anyways, even though hp really loves to preinstall software. If you are that worried about it just reinstall windows xp via thumbdrive or some other method

I wouldn't trust the Geek Squad.

Besides, there is nothing they will do that you cannot do yourself.

I have 7 laptops and always devote a full afternoon when I first get them to de-crap them.
